Finance a Project

1. A new collaboration to support executive decision-making
Enermetrics has partnered with Impact Link, an advisory firm focused on helping owners evaluate when energy upgrades are financially and operationally viable. Through this partnership, we have also invited experienced energy-upgrade funders to participate alongside the course.

The intent is simple: to complement the training with clearer, earlier insight into how projects are actually executed and financed.

2. The types of solutions these funders provide
The organizations we are engaging operate across Canada and the U.S. and include groups such as SOFIAC and Efficiency Capital (Canada) and Johnson Controls (JCI) and INONIC Blue (Canada & U.S.).

While each has its own approach, these providers typically offer:

  • No-upfront-capital project structures

  • Pay-for-performance models, where verified savings fund the upgrades

  • Off-balance-sheet or service-based arrangements

  • Turnkey delivery, from analysis through implementation and performance verification

For hotel owners, this reframes energy upgrades from deferred CapEx into operational improvements with aligned incentives and controlled risk.

3. Why introduce funders
Assessment builds understanding, but uncertainty around execution and financing often slows action. The involvement of funders at this stage is informational only — not to sell projects, but to provide:

  • Transparent explanations of real-world funding models

  • Clear insight into risk allocation, savings, and guarantees

  • Early visibility into how viable projects move forward in practice

This helps bridge the gap between learning and confident decision-making.

4. Invitation to engage
If this added visibility into execution and financing would be useful, I welcome your comments or questions.

For those who would value an early, informal conversation, I’m also happy to facilitate introductory discussions with Impact Link and selected funding partners — purely to explore how these models work and whether they are relevant for your assets.
